From San Carlo to Bignasco
The Val Bavona is a very wild valley and nature is mostly untouched. The hundreds of years old houses are well maintained and inhabited until the present. The valley was inhabited from before the year 1000. Later, natural disasters such as floods, landslides and rockfalls mean that the valley was no longer inhabited all year round, but only from April to November. Until 1950, the lonely mountain valley could only be reached on a mule path and has largely retained its character, apart from the natural influences that have marked the Val Bavona.
