It's a bit early for that, but I can remember years when it even happened in July. However, on Saturday morning I was surprised to see snow and went out into the cold to take some photos for a short update.

What started a week ago with a timid snowfall continued this weekend with more snow. This is not unusual up here at this time of year, but what is unusual is the fact that already five pass roads had to be closed due to the amount of snow. The temperatures have also fallen further and already touched the freezing point.

Given the low temperatures for the time of year, the snow has been holding on for several days now.

Temperatures have risen slightly but are still below the seasonal average. Nevertheless, sunny weather and pleasant temperatures during the day invited to further hikes. Only the first faint signs of the fall colors can be seen here and there. It almost seems as if the larches stay green longer in protest against the early cold weather .

The latest development speaks against the assumption that the snow will disappear completely again before the onset of winter, because there was snow again this weekend. It was the third weekend in a row with fresh snow on the peaks, which is rather unusual for this time of year even up here.

t's been a strange year, and in addition to the political, economic, and energy sector turmoil, the weather is also doing strange capers. But up here it is not what you would expect from a warming climate.
